Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation is a voluntary organization, which was set up in 1992 to help provide Specialist Palliative Care Services for the people of the two counties. Since 1992 the Hospice Palliative Care Teams have assisted in the care of over, 5,000 patients and their families.

Through the Foundations efforts and determination the Palliative Home Care Service is now in place 365 days a year. The majority of patients cared for by the service are cancer patients. As the service has developed and expanded it is also available for pain and symptom control in patients with non-malignant conditions such as Motor Neurone, Muscular Dystrophy & MS.

The Foundation’s headquarters is located in Knock, Co Mayo. All administration and fundraising matters relating to the Service are undertaken from these premises. Three clerical workers, a Fundraising Manager and a Chief Executive staff the office. The Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Foundation and reports monthly to an Executive Committee. A Board of Directors is legally responsible for the proper functioning of the Foundation including its accounting procedures.
