Funding the ServiceThe level of state funding for the Palliative Care Service in the West has been and still is grossly inadequate. The Government said they will redress the imbalance over the coming years and some state funds have begun to trickle through. The reality is, the service would not exist without the generous support of the people. The Foundation depends on fundraising and donations to maintain and develop this specialist Service. Over €1 million has to be raised to fund the service costs in ‘08. Support Groups There are approximately 40 Support Groups in Mayo and Roscommon who assist with fundraising for the Service. These volunteers also help to promote an awareness of the Service in the community. Would you be willing to give a few hours of your time once or twice a year to help with Church Gate collections, Sunflower Days, Coffee Morning etc.? If so they would love to hear from you. With the goodwill and support of the community Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation will continue to improve the services in partnership with the HSE. Our Support Groups would welcome new members, if you wish to join a support group or start up a new support group in your area please contact us or 094 9388666, Thank you. Your support is greatly appreciated
