Latest news from our shops
We were sad to say farewell to Jacqui Boland, who after much deliberation has decided to seek ventures new a bit closer to home.
Jacqui has been with us for 6 years and originally opened the Roscommon shop, which has proved to be very successful.
We will miss Jacqui enormously and wish her the very best.
The Household Shop
Has been open for one year on the 23rd of October. We originally realised that there was a need to have a larger shop that could sell furniture items. We found a suitable site on Moneen, Castlebar and set the shop up, along with a vehicle that could collect and deliver from customer homes. To be fair, It was tricky at first to understand logistically as it was such a different venture for us, but it quickly became smooth running and has proven to be a big asset for us.
Has recently undergone a makeover. It was the original Hospice shop that opened in the year 2000, and set the trend for what we know today. Three years ago, they moved to another location a few doors up, but we realised that we needed it to be larger, to display our range of products for our customers. We therefore partitioned a section of the rear space and have doubled the size of the shop. The grand reopening is this Friday 28th.
Is also getting a refurbish on the outside. South West Mayo Development have kindly agreed to repaint it for us. All we have had to supply is the paint and an odd cup of tea here and there!
Bling your thing
We are participating in a recycling initiative driven by Mayo and Roscommon County Councils. It is a competition to buy an item in a charity shop and give it a makeover, with a prize for the winner. They are also going to run workshops in our shops to show us how and item can be upcycled and repurposed. Once we have completed the workshops, we will have a ‘creative corner’ in our shops.
