Mayo Hospice

Mayo Hospice / Palliative Care Centre

The Mayo Hospice is located in Knockaphunta, Castlebar. (Postcode F23 YY40)
The Hospice is located within a small cul-de-sac development, containing St. Anthony’s School and HSE residential centres and the Rural training centre and is within walking distance of the Mayo General Hospital, Lough Lannagh public park and the town centre.

The Mayo facility is a 14-bed inpatient unit with daycare facilities and boasts a café, shop and reflection room.

We have used the natural landscape of trees, water, planted courtyards and gardens to organise and define the three core areas within the centre:
–              Reception & Public Areas: entered through a tree-lined south facing forecourt
–              Day Care Centre is organized around a central private garden, providing patients with privacy.
–              The In-patient Palliative Care Centre is also organized between an external courtyard
providing a sheltered amenity and a therapeutic garden to the south.

Roscommon Hospice / Palliative Care Centre

The Roscommon Hospice 8 bed facility, located adjacent to Roscommon Hospital is now open to patients since 13^thFebruary 2023.

The project was granted planning permission in June 2019, the sod was turned in January 2020 and construction began in March. The building was completed September 2021 and the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly officially opened it in November 2021 prior to recruitment of staff.

The Roscommon facility provides Day Care and Community Care and provides respite and end of life services free of charge to all who need it.
