Welcome and thank you for visiting our website, we hope this site allows you to find all you want to know about us here in Hospice.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the CEO of the Foundation and to personally thank everyone who supports our work during the year.
I have been made feel so welcome by the Board who govern this foundation so well and ensure complete transparency at all times, the hard-working staff both in Knock and the shops , our very special family therapist Laura, the amazing palliative care teams, and the truly incredible volunteers. Everybody I have met is here for the right reason, and the over-riding reason for doing everything, is to ensure that we continue to deliver an unrivalled palliative care service and ensure dignity to all in our care at end of life.
Every day I go to work, every euro that is spent, every decision I make, along with the staff and the board, will always be done with our mission statement to the forefront of our minds, and that is enabling patients to live out the remainder of their lives with comfort and dignity, and looking after their families during that journey, and afterwards. And in doing this we will, together, continue to develop services and future proof this foundation.
We are now heading into an exciting and challenging time, as we are about to go to tender for the Mayo 14 bed Hospice in Castlebar, with the intention of commencing the build in Autumn 2017, and completion in 2019. We will then commence the Roscommon Hospice, with completion in 2021. The cost of both Hospices is minimum €14million, so we will continue to rely heavily on Fundraising and the support of the public in both counties.
Without your incredible support over the last 24 years it would not be possible to deliver the vital palliative care service, along with family support and bereavement services. You have made it possible for us to deliver this service seven days a week to over 13,500 families. We will ensure that we will continue to meet the growing demand, with your continued support, for which we are truly grateful.
