Ancient Irish Trees – A reflective journey through the year by Alexandra Van Tuyll

Esteemed artist Alexandra Van Tuyll has just published a book on ancient Irish trees that will benefit a number of local charities.

Alexandra, who resides in Achill, Co Mayo, is no stranger to helping local charities through her art and this is her latest attempt to raise much-needed funds for worthy causes.

‘Ancient Irish Trees – A reflective journey through the year’ will raise funds for Mayo, Sligo, Galway and Limerick Rape Crisis Centres, Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, The Clare Hospice at Cahercalla and Galway Hospice Foundation.

The book follows the 13 ancient Irish trees, as mentioned in the Celtic Calendar through the 4 seasons. So each tree is shown in 4 pictorial painted images, which details winter, spring folklore, summer and autumn in a beautiful manner. Every season has an Early Christian poem about it on the opposite page.
