CJ SHEERAN, Ireland’s largest timber pallet company, are organising a Charity Run in aid of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice and in memory of their dear friend and colleague, Eoin Malone, who sadly passed away on April 2nd following a short illness.
“Eoin was our Maintenance Manager and Project Engineer for over 20 years. He kept our product lines and plant going like a watch. His talented hands can be seen over all of our factory”, says Fergal Moran, Business Development Director at CJ SHEERAN. “Eoin was a keen runner and had completed the Dublin City Marathon last October. He was also an avid fundraiser and was always collecting money for various causes around the locality. The Mayo Roscommon Hospice supported Eoin during his illness. We wanted to give something back in Eoin’s memory and so came up with the concept of Run4Eoin with all monies raised going to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice”.
“Eoin has left a huge void here at CJ SHEERAN and he is greatly missed by all of the team. We are honoured to be taking part in this event in Eoin’s memory and in aid of such a worthy cause”, adds Ashleigh Doyle, Director at CJ SHEERAN. “Eoin’s family and friends will also be participating on the day and we feel it will be a very special event and that Eoin would have been very proud”.
CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation Martina Jennings said: ‘We want to extend our gratitude to everyone in CJ SHEERAN who have come together to remember their friend and colleague Eoin in this very special way. The funds raised will go directly to providing palliative care services in the community, which is so important to the patients and families in need of such care. We are also in the middle of building our Roscommon Hospice, which will be completed next year and the €6m it will cost to construct, will all come from fundraised income, just like the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar. We would not be able to do what we do without events like the Run4Eoin and the people who give of their time to organise such events. We are also so grateful to everyone who support them.’
The 8k looped run is taking place at 6pm on Friday 14th August from The Green in Ballinrobe and anyone can participate. Walkers are also welcome. Another option for anyone unable to travel to Ballinrobe on the day is to complete an 8k run or walk at the same time on a route of your choice and to post your time, comments or photos on Social Media using the hashtag #run4eoin. To register simply e-mail your name, contact number and your preferred participation method to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com by Friday, 24th July 2020.
