Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation appoints Professor Michael O’Neill to Board of Directors

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation has announced the appointment of Professor Michael O’Neill to its Board of Directors, bringing decades of clinical leadership, medical expertise and healthcare education experience to the organisation.

Professor O’Neill is a recently retired Consultant Pediatrician at Mayo University Hospital, where he also served as Clinical Director of Paediatrics in Castlebar. A specialist in cystic fibrosis and respiratory diseases, he played a pivotal role in advancing paediatric care in the region and was instrumental in establishing the cystic fibrosis clinic at Mayo University Hospital. This develpment has significantly enhanced specialist care for patients and families across the west and northwest.

He currently serves as Dean Designate and Director of Training and Education in the Faculty of Paediatrics at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, where he is helping to shape the future of paediatric training and medical education at a national level.
