Leave a Legacy

Caring with a Legacy

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation has to raise in excess if €2.3 million annually through voluntary donations and fundraising efforts. We rely heavily on the support and goodwill of the people of Mayo and Roscommon to help us achieve this huge target in order to ensure that the high level of service provided by our Palliative Care Teams is maintained. If you are thinking of making a Will and are considering making a donation of some kind to a local Charity – we would be extremely grateful if you would kindly consider our Foundation. By leaving a donation in your Will to Mayo Roscommon Hospice you can make a real difference for patients living with a life-limiting illness and to their families.

Making a Will

Making a Will is straight forward and it is not expensive. A Will is very important and if you do not make one, your wishes may not be carried out after your day. If you have already made a Will but would like to leave a gift to support the Foundation’s Palliative Care Service, you can do so by making a simple addition to your Will. Your solicitor will help you with any changes you wish to make.

To remember Mayo Roscommon Hospice in your Will, there are three types of legacy that you can leave:

  1. You may choose to leave a share or the whole of what is left in your estate once you have provided for your loved ones
  2. You may choose to give a legacy of a fixed amount of money
  3. You may choose to leave a particular item of value e.g. stocks and shares, proceeds of life assurance, jewellery etc

Legacies to charity are free from inheritance tax, therefore, if you leave a legacy to a charity, not only are you making a huge difference to that organisation, you are also reducing the amount of tax payable on your estate.
