- The Stronger Together for Edel committee’s Lunch In Style event raised over €120,000 for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation and Galway Hospice. The event was organised by Edel Hyland, who has Stage 4 Breast Cancer and has received palliative care from the hospice.
- Other fundraising events included:
- A charity football match between the O’Connor and Murray families (€11,250 raised)
- A Parish Walk organised by the Duffy family (€9,400)
- The Westport Women on Wheels’ 605km cycle from Mizen to Malin (€31,115)
- A Coffee Morning in memory of Gerry Lyons (€11,010)
- The Killasser Run in memory of Maureen Murphy (€1,370).
- Upcoming events include the annual Tree of Light ceremony in Knock on December 1st, the Memorial Walk in Knock on December 1st, and ongoing Coffee Mornings.
- Hospice news includes CEO Martina Jennings taking a leave of absence to run as a candidate in the General Election and Board member Tom Connolly paying tribute to the work of the hospice volunteers.
- The newsletter also highlights the work of the hospice shops, with a spotlight on the Belmullet shop and its manager Ann Gallagher, and thanks the many volunteers and donors who support the hospice.
