We grew from local determination that no one in Mayo or Roscommon should face a life-limiting illness without specialist care close to home.
For more than thirty years, the people of Mayo and Roscommon have built something remarkable together. What began as community palliative care has grown into two state-of-the-art hospices, always free to the families they serve. Now, that same community is taking on its biggest commitment yet: building Ireland’s first children’s hospice outside Dublin, extending our reach into families facing life-limiting illness at every age.
Built by community, for community.
In 1993, a group of local people refused to accept that families had to travel far from home for specialist end-of-life care. They began to fundraise, organise and campaign.
Three decades on, that determination has grown into hospice care across two counties, including Roscommon Hospice, opened in 2023 and funded entirely by community generosity.
