In 1993, a small group of people set out to bring specialist palliative care to Mayo and Roscommon, where none existed. Three decades on, the community they asked for help has built two hospices together, funded entirely by donations.
For more than 30 years, Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation has made sure that no family in Mayo or Roscommon has to pay for specialist palliative care. What began with a small group of people determined to change that has since supported more than 20,000 patients and their families, and funded two hospices, built entirely by the generosity of this community.
We’re not finished. We’re now building the Sunflower Children’s Hospice, the first of its kind outside Dublin, for children with life-limiting illness and the families who love them.”
Through it all, one promise has never changed: our care is always free to the families who need it.
