When Bernie Dolan sets her mind to something, she doesn’t stop until she achieves her goal and this summer, she certainly went the extra mile for Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
Ten years ago, Bernie bought a wetsuit for no other reason than a desire to start open water swimming. This led her to join the Lanesboro Triathlon Club and she hasn’t looked back since.
Having recently completed her 30th triathlon and in celebration of her 10 years membership with Lanesboro Triathlon Club, Bernie decided to undertake two events in July. Both of which would raise funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice. On July 6th, Bernie undertook the Two Provinces Triathlon, which entailed a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run. But she didn’t stop there. Just two weeks later, on July 20th, she was back on the road again, completing the 120km Ring of Clare.
In undertaking these challenges, Bernie set a fundraising target of €5,000, but she far surpassed that, raising more than €6,000 for the charity. We are so grateful to Bernie for her efforts and congratulate her on her incredible achievement.
