Age is no barrier for the ladies of the Workshop Castlerea, Pilates & Yoga Studio!
The Workshop Castlerea is run by Shelia Rose. Sheila has years of experience working in the field of Personal Training.
Sheila will be walking the Camino Frances, also known as St James Way, starting on the 28th of April along with 14 amazing ladies and has chosen to fundraise for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation and Cancer Care West. All funds raised will go directly to these local charities.
The story started last year, Sheila thinks during one of the ‘Senior Strong’ classes.
Sheila had come back from a solo Camino. A few ladies expressed an interest, and the seed was sown. ‘Age is not a barrier if you can train and have a positive mental attitude.’ And that’s exactly what they did, following a training plan to gradually increase the length & number of walks. They have been training since last May.
These ladies are truly inspirational, ranging in age from their 40’s up to their 80’s. Their challenge will be walking 125km + over 6 days!
Their route will take them from:
Day 1 Sarria to Portomarin 22km.
Day 2 Portomarin to Palas de Rei 22km.
Day 3 Palas de Rei – Melide 15km.
Day 4 Melide – Arzua 15km.
Day 5 Arzua – O Pedrouzo 20km.
Day 6 O Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela (St James Cathedral) 25km.
This is a challenging route with roads, lanes & trails, some mighty hills, and the fatigue of walking day after day. Sheila is immensely proud of the effort, dedication, and training the ladies have undertaken – and hopes that they are an inspiration to others, and that age is no barrier.
