Meissner Selects Sunflower Children’s Hospice as 2026 Charity of the Year

A group of people pose indoors with Sunflower Children’s Hospice banners, a sunflower mascot, and a Meissner sign. Smiling and sitting or standing in two rows, they are supporting a charity partnership inspired by the values shared with Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

The team at Meissner, Castlebar, Co. Mayo has selected the Sunflower Children’s Hospice as their Charity Partner of the Year for 2026.

As part of the partnership, Meissner employees have already begun organising a series of fundraising initiatives throughout the year to support the development of the Sunflower Children’s Hospice. The first event will see 21 of the company’s Castlebar employees take part in the Westport Marathon on April 18th, raising funds for the project. The employee fundraising committee has also organised a number of additional community events including a Darts Night in June, a Shave or Dye fundraiser, and a Quiz Night in Castlebar. You can follow their fundraising efforts here.

John O’Shea, Site Lead & Director of Operations at Meissner, said:

“Meissner is proud to support Sunflower Children’s Hospice as a charity partner for 2026. This partnership aligns perfectly with our company’s values of community, compassion, and collaboration.

We’ve established an internal committee to drive our fundraising efforts, ensuring that employees can shape and lead initiatives that make a real difference. We have a wide range of engaging events planned over the coming year, with the aim of demonstrating the people-focus we have at Meissner, while raising vital funds and awareness for this extremely worthy cause. Through these activities, our team looks forward to bringing together colleagues, friends, and the wider community to support families across the West of Ireland.

As a company based in Mayo, supporting our local communities is central to how we operate and want to be as a company. We are especially proud to support the development of Sunflower Children’s Hospice here on our doorstep, helping to ensure that children and families have access to vital care and support when they need it most.”

Martina Jennings, CEO Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation said:
