Never Stop Dreaming: New Book Celebrating Mayo’s Historic 2026 Season

A new book celebrating Mayo’s historic 2026 All-Ireland triumph is being published on October 8, with everyone involved in the project proudly supporting the Sunflower Children’s Hospice project in Castlebar.

Never Stop Dreaming – Mayo’s Story of All-Ireland Glory, published by Mayo Books Press, has been written by experienced Mayo GAA journalists Anthony Hennigan and Edwin McGreal, with award-winning Mayo photographer Michael McLaughlin capturing the unforgettable scenes from a historic year for Mayo football.

The book tells the story of Mayo’s remarkable 2026 season, from the cautious optimism and early-season uncertainty through the twists and turns of the championship, to the unforgettable All-Ireland final victory over Kerry and the extraordinary celebrations that followed.

A major part of the book captures what happened when Sam Maguire finally came home to Mayo after 75 years. Michael McLaughlin photographed more than a dozen homecoming events across the county, documenting the incredible scenes as players, families, communities and supporters came together to celebrate an historic achievement.

Alongside Michael’s photography and striking match images from Inpho, the book features reflections and memories from members of the Mayo team, including Jack Carney, Diarmuid O’Connor, Jack Livingstone, Sam Callinan and Aidan O’Shea. Interviews with players and members of the Mayo management, conducted throughout the year, also provide an insight into the key moments of a season that changed Mayo football forever.

The book has been beautifully designed by Siobhán Foody and brings together the football, the players, the supporters and the extraordinary connection between the Mayo team and its community.

Mayo Books Press publisher David Brennan said everyone involved was delighted to be able to support the Sunflower Children’s Hospice through the project.

“I have always been honoured to support Mayo Roscommon Hospice through Castle Books whenever I have had the opportunity, and we are delighted that this book can support the Sunflower Children’s Hospice project.

“It is a wonderful project for the West of Ireland and one that deserves all the support it can get. We are very proud that Never Stop Dreaming can make a contribution and raise awareness of this very worthy cause.”

Martina Jennings, CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, thanked everyone involved in the project for their support.

“We are so grateful to David Brennan, Mayo Books Press, the authors Anthony Hennigan and Edwin McGreal, photographer Michael McLaughlin and everyone involved in Never Stop Dreaming for choosing to support the Sunflower Children’s Hospice project.

“This is a very special book celebrating an extraordinary year for Mayo, and it is wonderful that the story of that historic achievement can also help shine a light on a project that will make such a meaningful difference to children and families across the West of Ireland.”

The authors said they wanted Never Stop Dreaming to capture not only the football, but the extraordinary bond between the Mayo team and its supporters throughout a year that ended with Mayo finally ending their 75-year wait for Sam Maguire.

More than a record of a sporting achievement, the book is a keepsake of the moment Mayo finally realised their dream – while also helping to support the dream of a dedicated children’s hospice for families across the West of Ireland.

Never Stop Dreaming – Mayo’s Story of All-Ireland Glory will be available from October 8, with pre-orders currently being taken through Mayo Books Press.
