“Palliative care is about helping people live their best life.”

A woman in a pink shirt sits on a bench outside, looking at a photo. A speech bubble says, “Palliative care with Mayo Roscommon Hospice is about helping people live their best life.”.

Frances has known palliative care for many years through her family — and now through her own journey. In this heartfelt video, she shares what the Mayo hospice means to her: a place built by the community, where care feels like family, and where support goes far beyond medical treatment.

For Frances, palliative care is not about the end of life — it’s about living as well as possible. From the palliative care community team home visits that notice what she can’t always see herself, to the comfort of Day Care services in the Mayo Hospice  like physiotherapy, aromatherapy, and art, she describes the hospice as “an absolute godsend.”

Thank you, Frances, for so generously sharing your words and experience with us. Your voice helps others understand what palliative care is truly about — helping people live their best life.
